One way to measure the effectiveness of our Bible study is by the effect it has on our behavior. Consider these increasing levels of being a doer of the Word.

1. Know there is a Bible and I need to read
2. Listen to preaching, and read for myself every now and then
3. Study God’s Word intently
4. Put what I learn from God’s Word into ACTION
5. Examine my actions against God’s Word to ensure I am being obedient

If our actions are only self-serving or only for those who are close to us then we are not being obedient to Jesus.
